Does this sound familiar?
It's January 2nd...
You’re set and ready to go. You’ve got your new running shoes, your water bottle, your sport headphones. You’ve got a plan - you know when you’ll get it done, how long you’ll go, even the route you’ll take. Maybe you’ve even joined a gym (again.) But this one has classes that are super fun and will motivate you to stay on track.
“I’m gonna rock this!” you think. You’re motivated and committed and dammit, you’re finally going to do this exercise thing that you know is good for your mental and physical health.
Workout done, you feel proud. Invincible. Unstoppable.
January 3rd...
It’s a little harder to get going today (why are there so many people at the gym?) but you get it done.
January 4th...
Ugh it's so early! How am I ever going to keep this up? I'm tired. It's dark. I'm going to skip today and make it up tomorrow.
January 5th...
I missed yesterday...what's one more day? I'll get back on track Monday.
Monday...
Fuck it. I drank too much this weekend and I'm dehydrated and tired. I already messed up this month, I'll just start again on February 1st.
February 1st...
Your shoes are in the back of the closet and your schedule is right back to where it started - with no exercise in sight.
And you feel, frankly, like shit.
It feels like every time you start a new routine, you quit on yourself just when you’re starting to see results.
You’ve tried accountability groups. 30-day challenges. Hell, you even bet your best friend $50 you’d stick with it the last time.
Now you’re out $50 and you’re still no closer to where you want to be.
Am I hitting a little close to home on this stuff?
Before I go even a second further, I want to make sure I say this:
