My Heart Is Full (and my quads are sore AF!)

I just got back from five days in Seattle with the most amazing group of badass rebel runners. We ate, we drank, we laughed, I cried (I always end up crying), and we ran the Rock ‘N’ Roll half marathon on the hardest race course I’ve ever been on. Those Seattle hills are no joke.

Jen talks about how her fellow Rebel Runners gave her the support and encouragement she needed to train for (and run) the Seattle Rock N Roll half marathon. | Not Your Average Runner | Rebels on the Run | #training #running #halfmarathon #supportivecommunity | https://notyouraveragerunner.com/my-heart-is-full/

Rebel Runners = An amazing community of support

This group of rebel runners has been training together for the last year and we’ve been on three retreats together. It’s amazing to me that these women, whom I would never have met if not for this group and training with Jill Angie, have become friends and teammates to me and each other. It is a true testament to the power of women, who support and lift each other up from across the country (we are all from across the entire country). We are smart, talented, funny, and authentic, and there is no end to what we can accomplish when we put our minds to it.

We help each other up both actual and metaphorical hills (oh, so many hills) and we have a blast doing it. There is so much out there about women being catty, and tearing each other down, and judging each other; but in all facets of my life—personal, professional, family—women are the total opposite of that. And I honestly think that is more common than the other bullshit we hear about all the time.

Find your tribe

No matter what we hear on social media or read in magazines, or see on the news (or in rags that let ignorant people write ill-informed pieces about the abilities of a plus-sized mannequin), your girls are out there and are ready to support you. Your tribe, your team, your peeps… they are out there. If you aren’t with them now, find them because we do exist.

And there is nothing more powerful than the women in your life who will grab your hand during a race to pull you along. Laugh and cry with you. “Heart” your post and tell you what a badass you are. Text you every morning to ensure you’re out of bed and doing your run. Or wait at the finish line to cheer for you when you are DFL and everyone else has gone home. Nothing more powerful in the world.

See you on the path,
Jen
