It’s happened. Manifesta has come out with a hoodie!
In case you don’t know about this amazing woman-owned company, Manifesta makes gorgeous, brightly colored, high-quality workout gear…specifically for a curvy shape, in sizes up to 26. Right here in Philly.
Last October I reviewed a pair of capri tights and a tank top – you can check that out here. And today, I’m going to give you the lowdown on their latest offering – the Keep Your Head Up Hoodie!
First, the material:
Soft inside and out, cozy, lightweight yet still substantial, and stretchy without getting all stretched out after wearing it for awhile (and I wore it for HOURS just to make sure). And because it is made of wicking material, it washed up like a dream – normal cycle and then air dried for a short time and it was good to go.
The inside of the hoodie is a bit fleecy-feeling – fuzzy to the touch. But not thick at all. It’s kinda perfect.
Also, the color is simply gorgeous. I love gray with anything, and this wine color is so pretty – flattering for almost all skin tones (IMHO). But of course you can get it in gray & black, or all black, if that’s your preference.
And the fit and styling?
Perfection. This top is made to hug and flatter your curves, and the clever stitching around the bust and waist ensure a perfect fit no matter what your shape. There’s no gapping, no riding up, and no slipping. Once you put it on, this top stays put.
And…thumbholes!
Oh – this isn’t a feature I need, but if you’re a nursing mother the criss-cross bustline will make it easy to feed your little one 🙂
What about the size?
I ordered a size Iris, based on my size in the capris and tank I got last year. Unfortunately, I’ve gained a few pounds since then and when I first put the hoodie on, I thought it was a teeny bit too tight and thought I might exchange for the next size up. But after wearing it around the house for awhile, I realized it was actually perfect – because there was just enough stretch to feel a little bit like compression gear, without being so snug that it was uncomfortable. But of course, you could always size up for a looser fit (because returns are easy with Manifesta!).
Turns out the sizing was also perfection for running. Because it felt like a compression top, it helped everything stay in place and there was no riding up, down, or sideways at all (which is not something I can say for some of my other running tops).
But is it good quality?
Um, yes. The craftsmanship is kinda amazing (of course, I’d expect no less after seeing the beautiful flatlock stitching on the capris and tank).
So basically, it’s perfect. So much so, that I ended up ordering a pair of matching capris to go with it!
