Last week was EPIC.
For months, Coach Jen and I have been training our rebels for the Seattle Rock-n-Roll half marathon, and last week was racecation week!
It was a trip full of fun, food (Coach Jen cooked up a STORM), shopping, and running.
We kicked everything off on Thursday with dinner and a relaxing night at our house in Queen Anne.
Friday morning we got up early and went on a group run around Green Lake, and then we went to Top Pot for coffee and donuts.
After showering and eating lunch, we trekked into the city for the Underground Seattle tour, which was absolutely fascinating. Then it was off to the Brooks store for shopping (Run Happy!), followed by a team adventure at the Ninja Escape Room! We solved the game with 40 seconds to spare and learned that only 15% of teams make it out. So we were all feeling pretty damn smart after that.
Saturday morning was Expo time! We had a couple hours to shop and then everyone headed off to the Space Needle for some sightseeing.
That afternoon, some local Run Your Best Lifers dropped in to say hi!
Saturday night was super-chill. Everyone went to bed early to rest up for our 5 am wake-up call. The limo arrived at 5:30 to take us to the race!
The course was extremely challenging—roughly 1,000 total feet of elevation gain, with steep downhills. One hill alone was over a mile long!
These rebels kicked some serious ass. Every single one of them finished strong.
Congratulations to Melissa, Sharla, Joanne, Gale, Jen, Heidi, Wendi, Janeen, Heather, and Wendi (not pictured)—it was a race you should all be very, VERY proud of!
After another limo ride home, everyone showered and had a well-deserved massage and nap—and we celebrated with a yummy pasta dinner at a restaurant overlooking the city.
All in all, it was a fabulous trip and every single rebel kicked ass. Way to go!!!
