Do you have a favorite place to run?
That trail or route or special place that is guaranteed to make your feet dance over the ground, lift your spirits, and remind you why you love to run?
I have quite a few:
Philly’s Forbidden Drive trail. It runs along the Wissahickon Creek, there are covered bridges, lots of shade, and it’s always beautiful no matter the season.
The towpath on the Erie Canal It runs through my hometown of Spencerport, and I have awesome memories of riding my bike with my dad when I was a kid. As an adult, whenever I get the chance to visit (which is rare), I go for a run and feel close to him.
Green Lake in Seattle. The 2.8-mile paved path around the lake is absolutely lovely and the air always smells crisp and clean.
I got to run there this week on Global Running Day with my boo.
Then I went AGAIN on Friday with my Rebel Runners—their last shakeout run before the Seattle Rock-n-Roll half marathon on Sunday.
Life is so good.
After our run, we went out for ramen, picked up Coach Jen, and then visited the Brooks flagship store:
It was one hell of a weekend, and next week I’ll share all the amazing details. Right now, I’m resting up and smiling from ear to ear.
xoxo,
Jill
Oh—the next racecation retreat is in November in Savannah! Are you coming?

My very favorite!!! The Tennessee Riverpark in Chattanooga! 13-mile family friendly paved multi-use greenway. It begins north of Chattanooga at TVA’s Chickamauga Dam and stretches south 13 miles along the Tennessee River through downtown Chattanooga. The Riverwalk leads to multiple parks and offers breath-taking views along the river. The path is used for bicycling, in-line skating, walking, and jogging. It also includes the Chattanooga Rowing Center and several canoe and kayaking launches. This is my go to place! It is open 24-7, lighted, and has security posted. Several stops for clean bathrooms and water fountains but the view is magnificent! I am not a fan of hills and it is just about all flat and smooth. My goal this year is to run all 13 miles! https://parks.hamiltontn.gov/196/Tennessee-Riverpark
